about me

About me

I've been working with computers, servers, and the internet for over twenty years. Just because I enjoy it.

As long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to know how things work. And also how to make them better.

I am Jaimie de Haas, based in Goor. I build websites, manage hosting, and think about how digital systems can work better. Not because I have to, but because I've been interested in it my whole life.

From broken computer to digital solutions

My interest in technology began when I was eight years old. I got a broken computer from a friend of my father and decided to find out if I could get him working again. That's what happened. From that moment on, my curiosity about technology really never went away.

In the years that followed, I received computers more often to repair. For each repair, I received a small compensation, but above all, the experience was valuable. I learned how systems worked, how to investigate problems, and how beautiful it is when something that wasn't working suddenly does what it should do.

From this also arose my interest in home servers. I loved hosting, managing, and improving things myself. When a number of classmates later became more involved with gaming, I started setting up and managing game servers. First practically, then increasingly technically.

From servers to software

For those servers, I eventually began creating plugins and extensions. That was my first real step towards programming. What started as "modifying something so that it works better" gradually grew into a broader interest in software development.

When we wanted to make our servers more public, websites, forums, and online communities were added. This led me deeper and deeper into web development. Hosting, performance, user experience, management, and technology all came together there.

Precisely that combination is what still appeals to me today: web and IT are never a burden. It's about technology, structure, speed, reliability, and smart choices that together form a good whole.

3.

I always want to know how it can be better

I love making things better, faster, and more logical. If optimizations are possible, I want to find and utilize them. That applies to hosting, websites, processes, and code.

That's why I also built my own CMS last year. Not because there aren't existing systems, but because I wanted to be able to precisely control speed, simplicity, and control. I want to get everything out of a system without unnecessary baggage.

I take the same way of thinking into projects for clients. Not just putting something online, but making sure it is technically correct, works pleasantly, and is ready to build further on.
